Lisa remembers, at six years old, hiding in her grandmother's kitchen and eating six meatballs in under a minute. She was truly hungry, but she didn't want anyone to see her eat, so she binged in secret. Placed on restrictive diets beginning in kindergarten, she was continually sneak eating and binge eating as a child, partially out of rebellion against her narcissistic mother, mostly because she was ravenous all the time. After years of yo-yo dieting, binge eating and purging as a teen, and reaching nearly four hundred pounds, she sought out her first weight loss surgery at age twenty-three. She soon discovered that weight loss surgery isn't the easy way out. Her book, Diary of a Fat Girl, documents her first year after gastric bypass, her third in a series of weight loss surgeries that didn't work. She wrote every day as she unraveled the pain of her past and told, in painful detail, what it's like to recover from a severe eating disorder. Brutally telling the details of her weight-loss surgeries and struggles as the daughter of a narcissistic mother, Diary of a Fat Girl follows Lisa on her difficult journey to recovery. Discover how she lost most of the weight, gained it back, lost it again, but gained a more holistic understanding and acceptance of her body that goes beyond diets, dress sizes, or gym hours.

A page turner! Pick up this book and take a journey with Lisa.

This is a page turner! I was captivated because even though the writings were a compilation of her blog, I felt like I was reading her personal journal. She took me, the reader, through this journey with her. Lisa takes you through all the emotions. It was very moving.
I picked up Lisa's book since I have been in her classroom and heard her speak numerous times at Montclair State University. As expressive as Lisa is in the classroom, she does an amazing job expressing herself in this book. I found myself unable to put the book down! I look forward to the next book in this series.

This book was life changing! It made me feel like I wasn't alone I was always worried if others thought the way I did or struggled the same struggles I have. I'm so appreciate to the author for writing such a touching book. Ever since reading this I am able to see things differently and in a much more positive light. Thank you Lisa! Following the trajectory of Barr's career from the 1920s through the 1940s, Kantor penetrates the myths, both positive and negative, that surround Barr and his achievements.

Barr fervently believed in an aesthetic based on the intrinsic traits of a work of art and the materials and techniques involved in its creation. Kantor shows how this formalist approach was expressed in the organizational structure of the multidepartmental museum itself, whose collections, exhibitions, and publications all expressed Barr's vision. At the same time, she shows how Barr's ability to reconcile classical objectivity and mythic irrationality allowed him to perceive modernism as an open-ended phenomenon that expanded beyond purist abstract modernism to include surrealist, nationalist, realist, and expressionist art.

Drawing on interviews with Barr's contemporaries as well as on Barr's extensive correspondence, Kantor also paints vivid portraits of, among others, Jere Abbott, Katherine Dreier, Henry-Russell Hitchcock, Philip Johnson, Lincoln Kirstein, Agnes Mongan, J. B. Neumann, and Paul Sachs.

Barr Jr. In a book that serves as both a biography of Barr and a textbook on the theoretical foundation of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, independent scholar Kantor focuses on the philosophical underpinnings of Barr's early life. He explores in great depth the philosophers, teachers, collectors, artists, and others who helped to form the mind of MoMA's founding director (Barr was a mere 27 at the time of his appointment). Paul Davidovits, Professor of Chemistry at Boston College, was co-awarded the prestigious R.W. Wood prize from the Optical Society of America for his seminal work in optics. His contribution was foundational in the field of confocal microscopy, which allows engineers and biologists to produce optical sections through 3D objects such as semiconductor circuits, living tissues, or a single cell. Dr. Davidovits earned his doctorate, masters, and undergraduate degrees from Columbia University. Prior to his appointment at Boston College, he was a faculty member at Yale University. He has published more than 150 papers in physical chemistry and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Association for Advancement of Science. The second edition of Physics in Biology and Medicine received the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award in the Discipline of the Natural Sciences.

About the Author
Paul Davidovits, Professor of Chemistry at Boston College, was co-awarded the prestigious R.W. Wood prize from the Optical Society of America for his seminal work in optics. His contribution was foundational in the field of confocal microscopy, which allows engineers and biologists to produce optical sections through 3D objects such as semiconductor circuits, living tissues, or a single cell. Dr. Davidovits earned his doctorate, masters, and undergraduate degrees from Columbia University. Prior to his appointment at Boston College, he was a faculty member at Yale University. He has published more than 150 papers in physical chemistry and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Association for Advancement of Science. The second edition of Physics in Biology and Medicine received the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award in the Discipline of the Natural Sciences.

PHYSICS IN BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE, by Professor Paul Davidovits, is an expository masterpiece of admirable didactic value, which has gained additional attractiveness through the myriad of improvements made in the third edition. Reading PHYSICS IN BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE, Third Edition,I have been thoroughly impressed by Professor Davidovits scholarly depth and persuasive sincerity. Moreover, his uncanny ability to communicate difficult concepts in surprisingly accessible and yet technically accurate language is certainly rare. The book reviewed here can be profitably employed as a faithful companion to the regular text adopted by any instructor, for a one-year course of general physics to biology and premed students.

A C never disappoints and Embraced By A Donovan lived up to its name. Parker's admiration and attraction to Adrianne slowly built up but when sparks fly, they did. Then there are all the other underlying issues that kept you on edge. Can't wait for the follow up

Embraced by a Donovan take you to Miami and Parker Donovan bring the HEAT……………..Parker Donovan is the vice-president of Donovan Network Television who is known for bring quality entertainment. Adriana Bennett is a well-known model who gave it all up to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress. At Donovan Network she is on one of the hottest show Indiscretions.

Patrick and Adriana has being fighting there attraction since the first time the met. Both wanting to keep thing profession but when your heart is involved professionalism is thrown out the window. Adriana has being harboring a secret that has shaped her life up to this point, but once Parker become a part of her life she learn to trust again. Parker, Parker, Parker what is there to say he is a Donovan and that says a lot. He is a man that speaks his mind, he is a protector and loving man and when I say that he fell in love with Adriana it’s not funny.

Mrs. Arthur brought you the HEAT and I am not talking about weather. Parker and Adriana has their own HEAT and baby when I say they are HOT together they are. You will not be disappointed those DONOVANS are back. Oh let’s not forget side plot that is going on with those senior Donovan’s somehow it all ties in and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Embraced by a Donovan introduces Parker Donovan, another Miami Donovan man ready to embark again on a love match. He is at the top of his game, running the family television station and maintaining the Donovan name. His top-rated TV show, stars the beautiful Adriana Bennett. A family friend, Parker finds he is extremely attracted as well as protective of her. The attraction is so obvious, Parker allows it to take precedence over his thoughts of “success and business”. Adriana is hesitant to pursue anything with Parker less the co-workers think she got the job for reasons other than her acting abilities. As these two try to develop a relationship, past demons and other forces try to deter this twosome journey but Parker proves, Adriana will only find love when she is embraced by a Donovan, particularly Parker Donovan.

Mrs. Arthur does a great job weaving Parker and Adriana’s love story. Throw in the mystery surrounding the elder Donovans and readers will not want to put this book down. Mrs. Arthur’s gift of crafting the characters holds fast in this installment as readers will feel and understand the battle Adriana had with the eating disorder and the events leading up to how it was birthed. As Parker continues to pursue and wear down Adriana’s defenses, he senses there is more to Adriana than just acting, and sees there was a traumatic experience that shaped who she has now become. Parker knows what he wants and Adriana is top priority and damn anyone who feels otherwise. He will protect her at all cost. Storyline was on point and flowed, weaving the tale of love while also revealing secrets from the past that will shape the future and not in a positive way. The senior Donovans are keeping secrets that are about to be exposed and readers are shocked by some of the events. Overall this was a good read.
