Funniest Book I've Ever Read!

Number one of four in the "Totleigh Towers series," this is perhaps the funniest book I've ever read in my entire life! Buy this book, and then get Wodehouse's The Mating Season (#2 in the series), Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (#3), and Much Obliged, Jeeves (#4). Your life will never be the same! Be prepared to become addicted to Wodehouse's Jeeves & Wooster books!

Best Wodehouse Book I've read yet!

Like many, I discovered P.G. Wodehouse later in life, and so glad I did. One of the most brilliant humorists of any generation. It's not so much the plot (they're all pretty similar - Bertie in the Jeeves' series or Psmith or the Blanding's Castle cast or his other characters always get into some predicament involving eccentric relatives, on-again, off-again marriage plans, or some other harmless chicanery), but those of us who are devotees never tire of the brilliant repartee, characters, and humorous portrayal of the British landed gentry of the early 20th century. All of the books are enjoyable, some more than others, but I have to say without a doubt that "The Code of the Woosters" is definitely the most laugh-out-loud brilliant humor/writing/reading experience I've had to-date from Wodehouse. Absolutely pitch-perfect. Jeeves is at his finest, Bertie is either oblivious or in deep waters - often both at the same time. The range of characters is spot on - just the right touch throughout. I strongly recommend this book, and guarantee Wodehouse devotees you won't be disappointed!

A truly enchanting escape into a colorful and peculiar social universe of the iconic British leisure class. As a young man living in a world where it seems every social interaction is marked with the interruption of cell phones or television, I thoroughly enjoyed following the silly social predicaments of Bertie and Jeeves. I'm no doctor but if this isn't good for your blood pressure, I don't know what is.

Tom Bisio is known internationally as a martial artist and practitioner of Chinese medicine. He has studied Chinese medicine and martial arts extensively in mainland China and is a licensed practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine heading a busy clinic specializing in trauma, Chinese sports medicine and orthopedic conditions. Excellent work, brings the scattered elements together into one comprehensive place

Excellent work here by Tom Bisio. What is best about this book is that it very clearly and simply takes what are multiple pieces of the puzzle that is Taoist Alchemy and brings them together in one place for a nice complete picture. I've been doing meditation for a while, particularly the Taoist alchemy tradition, and finally this one brings all that I have learned to this point into focus in a simple system that makes sense.

The practice of meditation, qi kung, and standing are all inter related, but I think often people get confused as to what purpose each practice has. In order to actually get anywhere with Taoist practices, you have to do all of those as part of a regular practice session each day. Meditation is used, at least at a basic level, to calm, center, and focus the mind, clearing away and over time slowing and stoping the constant mental chatter that our ego self creates. Qi kung works on the outer chi or what we call wei chi in taoist practice and strengthens/balances our energies as they interact with the world around us. Standing is used to dissolve inner tensions and blocks, and improve the flow of chi through the meridians and is actually sometimes under emphasized in it's importance within the whole of practice.

That said, anyone can gain greatly from practicing any of these methods, but if you are serious about the pursuit of this it has to become a part of you life, not just that thing you do 3 times a week to stay in shape. For those just starting or someone experienced on this path, I highly recommend this book.

Not What It Seems To Be

While this is touted as a book on Taoist meditation, it's much more a book on neigong, with it's specific postures and breathing. Pretty hard to really learn that from a book. Better to get a qualified teacher.

I don't find this to be a book that would be useful to most people.

I prefer the books by Bruce Frantzis and Daniel Reid.

IMHO this book is just another of many that are vastly unusable to most people. I feel like it uses a lot of words to say very little.

Perhaps I'm missing something or I'm not advanced enough to "get it", but I believe this book makes the simple overly complex.

There's also a lot of technical information that I don't see as being relevant. Here's a short example:

"The weaving maiden also symbolizes the star Vega, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. The constellation's name is derived from the lyre. The cowhead symbolizes Altair, the brightest star in the Aquilla constellation. Altair and Vega are part of the summer triangle, which lies directly overhead in mid-northern latitudes during the summer months."

This is ONE small example. Like I said, overall this book talks about a lot, without really giving anything practical or substantial. This almost feels like a book of theory and history. There are much better books on Taoist meditation, energy meridians, and qi gong.

The book also has lots of space between the lines. A practice which I find annoying designed to make the buyer think they are getting more content than they actually are. I've also noticed this author has other books that are VERY expensive with very few pages. It's a shame because I know he's a good author on the topic.

Decoding the Dao

Another great book by Tom Bisio, Personally it is my favorite from his series. This is a non nonsense explanantion of the Daoist Yang Shen practices. It is full of great and authentic information without the typical New Age BS. This book explains for the westerner the deep Daoist practices without westernizing it and stripping away the real essence. The Chinese thought definitely comes through unlike many out on the market.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST-READ!!!!

As an environmental engineer with a 25+ years actual practice, I have to say that this book is one of the best in the field. The book addresses almost (for not saying all) the environmental engineering field issues, adding the extremely-important environmental sustainability focus to our practice. "Old" principles (such as wastewater engineering and potable water treatment) are addressed, as well as the more-recent aspects. The focus of the book is practical; it does not enter into the "too-complex" issues that (in my opinion) do not help that much the actual practitioner. The book is excellent for both the environmental engineering student (the format is focused to the actual classroom, with exercises, problems, etc.), as well as for the experienced EE practitioners (which should acquire knowledge of the environmental sustainability field). Thanks to the authors and publishers for developing this book!!!!
